This painting is on birch wood panel and was inspired by a doodle in one of my sketchbooks. My sketchbooks are filled with sharpie line drawings, an exercise I have done in order to loosen up my hand. Doodling with out lifting the marker off of the paper creates interesting positive and negative shapes. The sketch was enlarged onto white paper, filled in with color and than cut out in one fragile piece and mounted onto wood panel. The painting is meant to romanticize the simplicity of a line and reminds me of a male and female mouse kissing. In the future I am interested in exploring an entire body of work that explore the line in a similar way.
